You’re the center of their world.
Make them the center of ours.
View your star every night. Point your phone toward the sky and move it around, we’ll tell you which direction to go.
People have always made the constellations.
There's nothing in the sky that makes a scattering of stars a hunter, or a bull or a great bear. Someone simply looked up, drew the lines between the stars and told a story. Every culture that ever lived has done it. The shapes we think of as ancient and fixed were never facts of nature. They were acts of imagination and love, handed down for thousands of years.
Even the Big Dipper, the pattern nearly everyone can find, was never an official constellation. It's simply stars that people recognized and named because they meant something. That's all a constellation has ever been. Real stars in the sky and a story we choose to tell about them.
So we made new ones. Ten constellations of real stars, drawn for the beings who deserve a place in the sky most of all.

The ones who waited by the door. The ones who curled into the warmest corner of your days. The ones who gave you everything and asked for so little in return.
Your pet is a light in your life. Now they can be one in the sky, in a constellation made for them, named the way people have named the stars since the very beginning.
What you get
A real star. Named for them.
A real star with real coordinates, chosen from inside the constellation you pick. Give it your pet's name and it's yours alone. Forever.
A star that never sets
We chose stars from the one region of the sky that stays above the horizon all year. From anywhere in the United States, their star is up there every single night, in every season. Never out of reach.
Point your phone. Find your star.
Point your phone at the night sky and their star appears, right where it actually is, along with the Moon and every planet out that night. Not a simulation. The real sky, live. Plus a beautiful certificate of registration, yours to keep and frame.Anytime you want to find them, you just have to look up!

A keepsake worth framing.

The Faithful +
Long ago a star refused to set when its companion went dark. Night after night it stayed fixed in the sky, waiting. The other stars eventually circled it in recognition, forming the shape of a watchful figure that never leaves its post. Sailors once used it to find true north of the heart.

The Companion +
Two stars were born from the same dust cloud and refused to drift apart. Over ages they drew other lights into their orbit until the constellation took the form of two figures walking side by side. It is said that when one star dims, the other brightens to keep the path lit.

The Ever-Near +
A small star followed a greater one across the heavens for so long that the distance between them shrank to almost nothing. The surrounding stars arranged themselves into a protective curve, forever holding the two close. Petitioners look to it when they need to feel that something beloved is still within reach.

The Hearthlight +
In the oldest stories a single warm star kept a circle of travelers from freezing through the longest night. Grateful lights gathered around it and formed the outline of a low, steady flame. Even now it is the constellation people seek when they want the sky to feel like home.

The Quiet One +
Most constellations announce themselves with bright, shouting stars. This one formed from the softest lights that preferred to listen. Its shape is modest and easily missed unless you look with patience. Those who find it often say it feels like being understood without having to speak.

The Protector +
The newest of the ten. A single deep-red star appeared where none had been charted, warm as a well-loved coat. Around it smaller lights quickly arranged themselves into a playful, slightly crooked outline that somehow looks like both a guardian and a mischief-maker. No older myth claims it; the sky simply made room. Those who name a star here often say it feels personal, as if the constellation had been waiting for that particular name.

The Gentle Heart +
A star once burned too fiercely and began to crack. Rather than explode, it chose to cool and open itself into a soft, glowing center. Neighboring stars settled into the shape of a heart that never hardens. It is the constellation of soft landings and second chances.

The Little Ember +
After a great fire in the sky had burned out, one tiny coal refused to go dark. It glowed just enough to attract a handful of sparks that arranged themselves around it like a small, stubborn flame. Travelers who feel small and tired look for this constellation and remember that even the least light can endure.

The Silver Shadow +
A bright star cast a long shadow across the dark. Instead of fleeing the shadow, lesser stars gathered inside it and gave it form. The resulting constellation moves as one, bright core and silver outline, reminding watchers that presence can be felt even when it is not fully seen.

The Trusting One +
This constellation formed when a lone star opened its light completely to the void and, against expectation, was not extinguished. Other stars drifted close and rested in its glow, creating the shape of an open hand or an unguarded face. It is the constellation of those who still believe the night will be kind.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these real constellations?+
In 1922, astronomers agreed on 88 official constellations and that list is closed. Ours are not on it. Neither is the Big Dipper, arguably the most famous constellation of them all. What we made are patterns of real stars, named by us, exactly the way people have shaped the sky for all of human history. The star that carries your pet’s name is real. Its coordinates are real. The story is ours to make and now it is yours to tell forever.
Could someone else get the same star?+
Never. Once one is bound to your pet’s name it is recorded in our catalog and set aside forever. No star is ever given to two pets.
Will I be able to see the star in the sky all year?+
Yes, every night. Most stars rise and set with the seasons, which means half the year they are nowhere to be found. We deliberately chose ours from the northern circumpolar sky, the region that circles the pole and never dips below the horizon. From anywhere in the United States, their star is always up there. Some nights it rides higher, some nights lower, but it never leaves. The star you register is a real star identified by its astronomical catalog information, including its Gaia catalog ID and coordinates.
What information comes with my star registration?+
Each Pet In The Stars registration includes the information that makes your pet's star uniquely identifiable, including: your pet's name, constellation name, Pet In The Stars registry code, date of registration, Gaia catalog ID, Right Ascension (RA) and Declination (Dec), digital access to your star's location in the sky, official Pet In The Stars registration certificate. Your certificate provides the astronomical information needed to identify the specific star associated with your pet.
How can I find my pet's star in the night's sky?+
Your registration includes the star's astronomical coordinates, which identify its precise location in the sky. You'll also receive access to a digital sky view that allows you to see where your pet's star is located. We chose stars from the one region of the sky that stays above the horizon all year. From anywhere in the United States, their star is up there every single night, in every season. Never out of reach.
Can we do this for a pet who is still with us, as well as one who passed away?+
Of course. A star is just as fitting for a pet curled up beside you as for one you have lost. Name theirs while you can enjoy it together.
What is the Pet In The Stars Registry and is naming a star legitimate?+
The Pet In The Stars Registry is our private registry of stars dedicated to beloved pets. When you register a star, we record its unique astronomical information along with your pet's name, constellation, registration date and registry code, creating a permanent record of your pet's place among the stars. The name you choose is not an official astronomical designation recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). Rather, it is a personal designation recorded in our private registry and associated with a specific star and its astronomical data. We believe in being transparent about what you're receiving: a meaningful, verifiable star dedication for your pet, not an official renaming of a star.
Can I gift this to someone else?+
Absolutely. Pet In The Stars makes a unique and meaningful gift for any pet lover. You can dedicate a star to someone else's living or beloved pet and personalize the registration in their honor. It's perfect for birthdays, adoptions, holidays, anniversaries or as a lasting tribute to a pet who has passed away.

What We Offer
Pet In The Stars sells a symbolic, novelty star-naming keepsake. When you register a star, we assign your pet's name to a real, catalogued star (sourced from the European Space Agency's Gaia catalog) within one of our ten hand-illustrated constellations, as a personal, decorative keepsake honoring your pet.
Pet In The Stars is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) or any official scientific or governmental body responsible for astronomical naming. No official, scientific, or legal naming rights are conferred by a purchase. The star's official scientific designation (its Gaia catalog ID) remains unchanged and is included on your certificate for reference and verification only.
